Journey‘s Neal Schon has signed on to compose the score for an in-production theatrical film called Burden of Freedom. Schon will also serve as an executive producer of the movie, which tells the story of U.S. Army Captain Brian Daniel, who was stricken with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after returning home from the Iraqi War.
Daniel was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, known as the Screaming Eagles, and in 2003 took part in the historic Battle of Najaf in Iraq. The film wants to raise awareness of the numerous veterans who, like Daniel, struggle with PTSD. Actor Tom Sizemore, whose many credits include Saving Private Ryan and Natural Born Killers, has signed on to star in Burden of Freedom.
A message posted on the movie’s official Twitter feed and Facebook page notes that the flick’s co-producers, Kenny DeSoto Ramoz and Alex Lorre, “are so very humbled and excited” about Schon joining the project.
“We welcome you Neal and are so very honored to have you!” the post continues. “God bless you and thank you for believing in us, our film and our message of hope for our American men & women who serve, or have served, our great country, and who are suffering from PTSD in epidemic numbers.”
Ramoz and Lorre add, “Neal is a very strong supporter of our men and women in uniform, both active and veterans, and joins our cause to bring awareness via film, and music.”
Schon, meanwhile, tweeted, “This will be an amazing movie.”
